Min. Tonya D. Owens is a living witness that the Lord can change lives because He did it for her. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and your mind, and your neighbor as yourself. (Luke 10:27) Favorite scripture!

Min. Tonya counsels and encourages women who are challenged emotionally, spiritually and physically. She feels it’s important for women to learn to love themselves first. By reminding them that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose for them. (vs 39) “Nothing and no one can separate them from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus!” (Romans 8: 28-39)

Min. Owens was licensed in December, 2019 to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ. She serves
at Lee Road Baptist Church in various ministries. She helps leads the Sunday morning worship
service. One of her favorite ministries to serve in is the (LRBC) Victorious Youth Ministry. She is
dedicated to preparing youth to serve in the community and having a positive effect on the next
generation. She teaches and preaches to the next generation to inspire them to become future
Preachers, Evangelists, and Teachers of the Gospel. She believes the youth are the future
leaders and without God they will be lost. She also leads the Prayer Conference Call Line every
Monday evening with the understanding that there is power in prayer and that nothing is
impossible for our God. With God all things are possible!

In July, 2020 Min. Owens was diagnosed with breast cancer. She finished chemo in December
2020, and she rang the bell! It was an emotional day for her. She started radiation in January
2021 along with taking her final two classes to graduate with her Master of Divinity. She
completed radiation in March, and she rang the bell again! Today, she is a 4 year breast cancer
survivor! Upon completing her breast cancer treatments and her Master of Divinity, the Lord
placed it in her heart to begin a non-profit organization, SoJournee With Me, LLC. Her
organization was founded in October 2021 in alignment with Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

SoJournee With Me is an organization focused on women that had, have, or will go through
breast cancer. Through the organization, Min. Tonya encourages and support men and women
through their cancer journey, and also hope to support fighters and their families financially. This
is an organization that is near and dear to her heart. “She lost her great-grandmother, a close
friend, and sister-in-law to breast cancer.” “That is why SoJournee With Me Cancer Support
Group is important to me.” Helping people through some difficult day means a lot to me and
others. I believe that is my God given mission to be used for His Glory!

Min. Tonya received her BA. of Science in Organizational Management at Nyack Christian
College, where she began to sense the call of God on her life. When she yielded to His call, she
enrolled in New Brunswick Theological Seminary in New Jersey, where she graduated in May,
2021 with her Master of Divinity. Min. Tonya is planning and preparing for Ordination in 2024
through the American Baptist Association.

Her favorite scripture is Ephesians 3:20 “Now unto Him who is able to do exceedingly and
abundantly more than we can think or imagine according to the power within us.” To God be the
Glory!!
